Circle Time

SKIP runs a two year kindergarten programme following the UK Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. These are unaccompanied classes for children aged 3 to 5 years of age and are run by two qualified and registered kindergarten teachers in each class. English is the medium of instruction.

Kindergarten 1 – The Cricket Class

Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 1.00 to 4.00pm

The Cricket class is suitable for children aged 3 to 4 years of age and running three afternoons a week offers a more gentle introduction to kindergarten.  The aim of the class is to offer children their first experience of school and to encourage separation from parents.  Sessions include:

  • Circle time
  • Work & Play (including small group work, arts & crafts and sensory activities)
  • Music and movement
  • Group snack time
  • Indoor and outdoor free play
  • Interactive story time
  • Library, gardening, baking

Adult to child ration of 1:5 (2 teachers, 1 educational assistant and 1-2 duty parents for 20 children)

Kindergarten 2 – The Gecko Class

Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 12.00pm

The Gecko class, running five mornings a week, is suitable for children aged 4 to 5 years of age.  With progression into the older class the curriculum becomes more structured, preparing the children for entry into primary school.  Sessions include:

  • Circle time
  • Work & Play (including phonics, numeracy & arts & crafts)
  • Music and movement
  • Group snack time
  • Indoor and outdoor free play
  • Interactive story time
  • Weekly mandarin
  • PE
  • Library & Audio Library

Adult to child ratio of 1:7 (2 teachers and 1 duty parent to 20 children)
